With 365 public beaches on Antigua, you could visit a different one each day for a year. Your first stop will likely be St John’s, a great place to see original colonial forts and the St John’s gothic cathedral.
Next you’ll want to head to a beach. You might have to do your research as there are plenty to choose from. Many resorts have beach access, and indeed some of the best beaches can be found in front of resorts, but exploring the island will show up some real gems. Rockbird suggests Pigeon Point with its beach restaurants, bars, and plenty of events throughout the year, or Dickenson Bay if you want all the commercial offerings including jetski rental. If you are looking for something a bit quieter, try Carlisle Bay.
The island has more to offer than just beaches. Try ziplining through the jungle, or take a boat to the reef where you can snorkel, dive, and feed stingrays. Hike out to the famous Pillars of Hercules rock formations which double as a great swimming location, or explore the blowholes at the natural limestone arch called Devil’s Brdge.
