Dubai and Beyond

Dubai is the epitome of the future city. It seemingly sprang out of the desert in the last 30 years, funded by Emirati oil riches and overseen by international business moguls and designers. The population is almost entirely comprised of foreign migrant and immigrant workers, and the sky is filled with glittering glass and gold-tinged towers.
Dubai International Airport has become one of the great travel hubs – linking Europe, Africa and Asia to the rest of the world – but Dubai itself is a destination worth stopping for. The Burj Khalifa is the tallest building in the world, and visitors can view the city from the tower’s topmost observation decks or watch the sunset over a meal or drink. The Palm Deira is the world’s largest manmade island, a luxury neighbourhood in the shape of a palm tree. Visit high-end shopping malls, eateries, gold souks and supercar dealers in one of the world’s most affluent cities.
The city also serves as a springboard to see the rest of the United Arab Emirates. Join a desert safari on camels or 4WD trucks, depending on your preference, or skip over to the neighbouring emirate of Sharjah for a South Asian dining experience.
