Hawaii

With its tropical air and slow-paced vibe, it can be easy to forget that Hawaii is a state of the USA. People come for the beaches and clear blue Pacific water, but they stay for the unique character and beauty of these volcanic islands.
Surfers and sunbathers should head to the island of Oahu first. It has some of the state’s best beaches – including Waikiki, Lanikai and Kailua – and there are plenty of tour operators who can take you to prime diving spots. The city of Honolulu has its own charms: top-notch restaurants and bars; art galleries and museums; and several memorials to those who died in World War II and the Pearl Harbour attack.
Maui and the other Hawaiian islands offer some more secluded getaways and attractions such as jungle hikes, volcanic craters, waterfalls, and island cruises.
Wherever you go, be sure to stop and appreciate the culture. Watch a traditional Hawaiian luau performance and taste dishes such as poi, laulau and poke.
